Day One…..Occoquan Va

As promised, I’m giving an update on the traveling flibbertigibbet. I actually managed to get out of the house only 6 minutes past nine……that’s because only one of the kids was up and he was half asleep anyway and was unable to verbalize yet. Picked up Miss Bittersweet and off we went toward DC!

Our first stop was in Occoquan. It’s an historic and picturesque town on the Potomac. Since it was about 105 outside….I’m serious…we went into the first place closest to the car to grab some lunch. Then it was down the street to Brambles, owned by Sharon and Daniel Prophet. Miss Bittersweet said this was a new shop to her since the last time she had been to Occoquan so I wanted to let you know all about it since it was SO LOVELY! Sharon was comfortably ensconced in an easy chair and sorting her mail. She welcomed us in and was so gracious. The pictures don’t really do this little gem the justice it deserves so you really must visit.

Sharon is the artist and also gives classes. Her beautiful floral paintings were scattered throughout the shop.
We really loved this messy paper garland made from book pages.
I could not resist these paper lanterns printed with vintage documents……
We needed to move on so we didn’t linger in Occoquan very long. Since it was so hot we didn’t see another soul in sight and we didn’t have the fortitude to wander around much anyway. Back to the van and off to the interstate we went!
Here’s the link to Brambles: www.bramblesstudio.com       Enjoy!
Tune in tomorrow for the next installment…….
