Starting Out Badly…Ending Well

I hate days that start on an off note, don’t you? Because my experience has been that they tend to go downhill from there. Well, this one didn’t and I am so glad!

Last night, I was very excited to find that I had made my first sales on both of my Etsy sites. I sold some French Script Paper Ribbon…..

And then, I sold a Shabby Bag….

So I went to bed feeling happy that someone liked what I had done…..

In the morning, I realized that there was confusion about the Paper Ribbon and I was upset that I might have caused a problem with my very first customer! I got on the computer immediately while trying to see the littlest guy off to school. My computer skills leave a lot to be desired and when I am distracted or upset, it doesn’t get any better! I was working the problem out when I glanced at my clock and realized I had to leave the house in 10 minutes to get another guy to an appointment across town. I was still in my PJ’s ! I started working feverishly….which didn’t help. Five minutes later (5 minutes to get dressed, brush hair, find shoes, etc) I thought I was done. We were at the door when I realized I had forgotten to fix something. I knew I wouldn’t be back for at least two hours so I ran back in, fired up the computer (thank goodness there’s a new modem) and repaired the problem. OK, finally I can leave….

Racing across town in morning traffic with multiple people not just doing the speed limit but 5-10 miles UNDER the speed limit set my tummy in cartwheels! We pulled up, the kid ran inside to check in while I parked the car and we were only 5 minutes late…..Whew! I calmed down a bit and went inside….the kid is at the window facing two receptionists who are telling him he doesn’t have an appointment. I stepped up to clear everything up and am told “I’m sorry, he’s not here today…didn’t you get a call?” Oh boy! I don’t fault anyone, we all make mistakes but all that rushing around!! So, we left and I dropped him at school. I confess, at this point my fatalistic nature kicked in and I thought “this is going to be a bad day….”

But, it was actually a good day and it ended well (it’s not over yet…..OK I’ll be positive) I hit the grocery on the way home and it wasn’t crowded. I came home to find that the problem I handled was perfectly fine. I loaded some more items up for the Etsy site..

Wrapped up the French Ribbon to send off…

Unbound the crinkled seam binding I was working on….

And liked it….

I started dinner, made the bed with a new king size Rachel Ashwell quilt I found at the thrift for $8.99 (!), cleaned up the living room in preparation for a dry fit of the new wall unit tonight, and finally settled down for a nice cup of tea at 4:00……mmmm….

I can’t tell you how many cups of tea I have had from this teapot. It was my Granny’s pot and she gave it to me before she died. It’s very special. The extra large cup is from my hubby’s grandmother and it’s my favorite. That’s a picture of my Granny’s house in Asbury Park, NJ. Nice memories.

A nice cup of tea fixes a lot, don’t you think?
