Should I Sell Tequila? Yes or No?

I struggle with selling…….
on Etsy….
in the shop….
on Craigslist……
on EBay……
I stick something out there and I begin to get crazy thoughts……

Target will call me and say they just MUST copy my apron and sell it internationally….

Someone will see my French China cabinet (with matching chairs no less!) on Craigslist and call and say they MUST carry my things in their huge shop….

A customer will spy my French chair in the shop and insist I make her a whole set…….

I will get emails from California or Illinois or Wisconsin or Texas….where all those fabulous markets are and they will want me to come set up a huge booth because they are sure I will be the next Joy or Rosemary or LaurieAnna or Amy….

I sit and think up 15 versions of aprons…….ย
Just in case…….

But the calls don’t come…..sigh…

Sometimes opportunities drop in your lap…
like Miss Mustard Seed’sย Milk Paint

Sometimes opportunities appear at the thrift store….
like last week when I saw this…..for $12

I could sell tequila! I bet I’d get lots of customers…especially if I gave out some shots!
I could put lemons and salt in the bins! In cute vintage containers, of course!
I could just imagine the calls I’d get!
You’ve sold out again in one day…when are coming to re-stock?
I have several people who want to order cases of tequila, how soon can you send it?

Unfortunately, for some strange reason, I cannot sell alcohol in my booth.
Another dream bites the dust…….
So, this will now become a much needed display area for me…..
And now I need your help!! What should I do?

I painted it white….now it looks all pickety fency and cottagey….

Now I have to decide what else……

Numbers?
Herbs?
Fruit?
Or something else?
The display will vary so I just want something to look nice but not indicate what is in the rack.

Here’s where you come in……suggestions are needed!

What do you think?

  1. In my home the best use for that shelf would be the names of my children ;-D I am an empty-nester, but they (and their children) still frequent our home, leaving things behind. I know you have a busy home full of kids, maybe this would work for you as well – a spot for things that need to go back to rooms?

  2. Hmmm…so many options. How about some words used in industry? To keep it versatile, I also think the numbers are a good idea, but maybe put random numbers on there – numbers that secretly have special meaning to you. Good luck! Great find. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I think you should paint Tequila signs on it…..Great find, by the way! xo Diana

  4. How about giving it a little “aging” and just leave it plain so you can use it however?

Be awfully cute with big ole pumpkins on it in a few months – but only if it is aged a bit….or, to be honest, selling it all cottagey as is would bring in some cash – someone who needs it bright white would love that unit.

    Bottoms up!

  5. If you sell Tequila, I’ll eat the worm!

  6. I was so excited about your tequila venture… with the big letdown I am too distraught to have any clever ideas! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  7. Well, you might not be able to sell Tequila in your shop, but you still came out ahead with that super cute display shelf! I like the idea of aging the white just a little, and adding the numbers! Would be so cute with Fall Decorations!

Don’t give up, maybe “they’ll” call one day soon! Just don’t forget us little people when you become famous ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. what a great repurpose!!! seriously- so cute!

  9. Well you could have left the original artwork on it. but of the ones you show I like the herb words the best. I’m not one to trust on signage advice because I tend to shy away from labeling. Love original labeling….

  10. I’m voting with the herbs crowd. It is lovely tho, so I’m sure it will be gone if you decide to sell it.

  11. Another option could be labled for the office craft supplies or bathroom. I think the words would limit the uses for someone if you are going to sell it.It turned out darn cute and is very versatile.

  12. First bin…”buy this”
Next one… “buy one of these too”
    third one….”you need this”

  13. Anonymous says:

Paint a strip of chalk paint on the front and change it as you need it

  14. Bliss….you crack me up! LOL
Cathy and Anonymous…thanks for commenting. I couldn’t reply directly to you because of the “no reply blogger” in your address. Sorry!I had thought afterward that chalkboard might be a great idea…I can change according to what’s in the bin!So anonymous was right on track!

  15. How about Misc ella neous ??? OK maybe not… go with the herbs! ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. How about “to be signed”, “To be filed”, “To be sorted” , “Can’t face now!”. It can be a sorter for all that mail and school papers busy moms get?????

  17. What….no tequila? I can’t believe it. What are they thinking on letting you sell tequila ๐Ÿ™‚ Love the shelf.

    blessings,
    karianne

PS I like the idea of the chalkboard labels ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. this post totally cracked me up…..I have those same “visions” of phone calls and offers and yet all I hear is crickets chirping ๐Ÿ˜‰ The shelf is adorable even if tequila isn’t on the list.

  19. LOL! Love! You could use it to stage your MMS Milk Paint. It would look great on there!

  20. Love the new look! I have to say the tequilla is my vote but the numbers are cute!

  21. I love Bliss’s suggestion. I second it.

  22. Love them all…however, if I were to use it on a porch, then I would choose the herbs…but then again, in the kitchen, definitely the fruit…but anywhere else…the numbers…it’s all about the numbers!!! Great piece!!!

  23. Ditto. Bliss nailed it ๐Ÿ™‚

Or the chalkboard, so it can be changed.

If not, then numbers. But written out in French ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. If that were mine I would paint fabric names on it and store some of my fabric stash on it! ‘linen’ ‘cotton’ ‘ribbon’…
Can you tell me how soon I will know if my milk paint preorder will be filled? I assume you got it but want to make sure!
    thanks!

  25. LOL – you’re funny, found you via Beyond The Picket Fence from a comment you left about painting. I, too, struggle with what if I become too successful syndrome….LOL. Check out my blog and pick a logo, I’m struggling with my future successes and can’t decide. I think numbers on the tequila thing!
